GREEN DEAL

WHAT IS THE EUROPEAN GREEN DEAL SUPPOSED TO ACHIEVE?

The Green Deal is an agreement by EU member states to become climate neutral by 2050.

It includes measures that are intended to bring about a significant reduction in CO2 emissions. The focus is on a resource-efficient, modern and competitive economy that respects people and nature.

The following benefits are expected to result from the implementation:

  • clean air, pure water and nutrient-rich soil
  • healthy, affordable food
  • clean energy (water, wind, solar ...) and technologies
  • sustainable product life cycles - durable, repairable, recycle, reuse
  • energy efficient buildings
  • expansion of public transport
  • crisis-proof, competitive industry with modern workplace models

The following packages of measures are firmly anchored in the European Green Deal:

  • Closed Substance Cycle Waste Management Act
  • CBAM - Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism
  • EU Taxonomy

The EU sees itself as a role model here. Now it is time to meet the tightly set climate targets. Of course, a global climate policy only works if all countries on all continents pull together. Countries bordering the EU are included in this climate roadmap.

The phase-out of fossil fuels is sealed. In agricultural policy, the focus is increasingly on regionality "from farm to table". The expansion of wind power and photovoltaic parks is being pushed. Products are considered over their entire life cycle and quantified with a CO2 balance. The public transport network is being expanded.

A change in thinking that affects us all, us as private households, us as employees, us as entrepreneurs. We can only hope that these actions will be implemented worldwide and that the EU will not be left as an exemplary pioneer!
